Carbon Dioxide Removal

It is obvious that humankind is not able to reduce the CO2 emissions fast enough to prevent the climate overheating. Therefore, in addition also negative emissions i.e. Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) is needed.

The growth of vegetation is the most efficient method to remove CO2 from the air. However, vegetation as such doesn’t provide efficient carbon storage, because it quickly decomposes and generates emissions into air.

Pyrogenic Carbon Capture and Storage (PyCCS) is the most economical technology to fix the carbon from vegetation into a form, which can then be stored for 100 years and beyond. This pyrolyzed biomass is called biochar. Torrec’s slow pyrolyze technology is developed for the industrial scale production of biochar.

Torrec Technology (pat. pend.) enables factories to be constructed wherever suitable raw material exists.
